MB: I haven't posted for a while, but I had to tell you about our
Preakness. I always go to Blackeyed Susan Friday and Preakness Saturday(for over 25 years). This year was the Preakness From Hell!!!

A 92 degree Baltimore day, and Pimlico loses its power. No lighting,
people stuck in elevators, the jockeys had a fire in their kitchen,
no air conditioning, no betting, dark stairways, and melted ice in
my cooler.

About half the grandstand crowd left long before the Preakness. I fear
they will not return. I had a couple of good scores before the betting
ceased. All my picks for the later races lost. Praise the Balto G & E.

The track owner's response to all this was to lament his loss in handle. Not the more than fifty people who passed out, not the
sweating patrons, not the ladies room plunged in darkness, not the gal's special dresses, hats and hairdos ruined. and not my warm Beck's.

Cashed some nice tickets on Friday, hit good early on Saturday, saved
big on late Saturday, and my stable of Micron puts put on their own
little Preakness show for me.

Best wishes,

Bob Miller
