From what you are saying it would appear that DELL's retained earnings are down 40 M last year. The FORBES article is claiming they would not have made any money at all. In fact, they would have been in the hole. How do you evaluate the FORBES statement?

Chuz, I agree completely. Its one of my hot buttons too. I'm all in favor of paying for top executive talent and for rewarding performance. But this level of "compensation" is completely out of line with any rational system, and there seems to be virtually no limit to how far such programs go. Certainly it goes far beyond what's necessary to attract and retain top talent. And it comes straight out of the shareholders' pockets. I haven't read the Barons article, but DELL's 10-Ks show what's going on. Obviously, this isn't happening just at DELL, either.
