Win 98, Compaq and QDEK

It appears that Microsoft Windows 98 release will be delayed indefinitely (http://www.infoworld.com/) according to the news release today (Saturday). Sherry Katz of QDEK e-mailed us on April 24 indicating their marketing plan. If you did not read the info when we posted it in April, you may want to read it now at home1.gte.net under road trips. This could also impact hardware sales as we believe that many people were waiting to upgrade to faster computers when Win 98 came out.

There is a possible win-win situation that could occur. If Microsoft would give Win 98 away free as is with Internet Explorer embedded, then the hardware (CPQ for example) and software (QDEK for example) suppliers would benefit as well as consumers. (Netscape Navigator ain't that hard to load folks.) The Fed might have a tough time suing someone for a freebie. I think Bill G. owes us one. We have been good consumers for many years and besides the litigation cost savings would probably more than offset a free Win 98 to all.

Just a humble thought.

>>> J.P., You've put your finger on exactly what's happening....This is one of the most manipulated stocks on wall street...The big money sold scads of options, and they have the leverage to keep the stock within a narrow enough band to take the option buyers' money...This sucker play happens over and over with this stock. <<<

Why not play the game with them? When the rally fizzled last week in the 32-33 range, you could have sold the May 30's for 3+ and bought them back today for 1/4.

It seemed obvious that there was an effort to bring the price near 30. The fact that they couldn't quite get it there is bullish- lots of strength buying the dip. There may be selling pressure early this week as lots of those 30's are called away and the stock immediately sold.

BTW....I don't condone the "manipulation", but if you see it happening, don't fight the trend. Use it to YOUR advantage.

Good Luck
TB

Today's price action has certainly once again proved this to be true.
Glad I bought more options on Friday :-)

Tomorrow if DELL beats the whisper by a few pennies, and the FOMC
doesn't hike rates, and the conference call is positive, this could
cause a real feeding frenzy.

Think Mike Dell planned this day for earnings right after expiration
on FOMC day?
