You sound as if you don't know how litigous this country is. Once sucked into our legal system, right and wrong practically flies out of the window and deftness, precision and craftiness take precedence.

Yeah, right Reggie. Like, it took deftness, precision, and craftiness for Microsoft to go after the T-shirt guy, or ntinternals.com, or the companies that had trademark rights for Internet Explorer and ie. Those guys were overwhelmed by the cleverness of it all, and knew they should just give up, when confronted by lawyers for the smartest people in the world. Big guy bullying little guy had nothing to do with it. It's sad to see Microsoft faced with a legal battle where overwhelming force isn't on their side, but it couldn't happen to a nicer company.

Cheers, Dan.

MSFT could have avoided this fate. They have had several warnings and chances to make other choices. But their behavior and lack of compromise when they got caught has landed them in the situation in which they find themselves. How come you never criticize MSFT? Don't you think they've done anything to create this situation themselves, or do you believe that they are just victims?

Reggie,

>>They also have the power to wage war and employ economic embargos on emerging countries, that does not necessarily alter their charge to the American people nor guarantee that these actions would be made in the best interest of the American people.

Fact remains they have the power until the Constitution is changed. The Vietnam War may have been bad for the populace, but the $120 billion spent on it was never given back by the stockholders in protest.

Everytime you eat a banana you can thank the Feds for stepping in and protecting the interest of big business throughout the entire history of Central America.

If Japan started giving away a Windows-compatible OS for free, what do you think the U.S. Government should do about it? Microsoft would be screaming the loudest; yet one could say that the Japanese are just "shrewd, tough businessmen" and all that rot.

>>You sound as if you don't know how litigous this country is. Once sucked into our legal system, right and wrong practically flies out of the window and deftness, precision and craftiness take precedence.

Which other system should our legal issues be sucked into? Yes, it is sad that Bill Gates uses his legal staff to shake-down a T-shirt salesman that no one has ever heard of. Once again Bill determines what choices are available to the consumer; whether its icons or T-shirts.

Intellectual property rights are sort of dependent on this same system so it must have some merit...

Cheers,

Norm

Human plans don't come with guarantees.

So once again you force me to wonder why you aren't a lawyer. :-)

Cheers,
Chaz
