How can anyone, no matter how Republican they are, believe that Bernard Schwartz would have the slightest interest in trying to profit by selling "secrets" to the Chinese? Here is a 72 year old man, with a 25 year history in the US defense business, with a brilliant mind, and with a brand new company to run--why the hell would he do what he is accused of? It makes absolutely no sense. Thus, drag Loral through the mud all you want--in the end, they will not be affected. Bernard Schwartz stood before all of us in New York on April 28 and said,"we did nothing wrong." I, for one, believe him. If I didn't, my money would be elsewhere.
I know this issue has the potential to affect the stock in the short run, but it only distracts all investors from the issues at hand. I would much rather know if the Russian military sat launch on the Zenit-2 was successful, or if Loral Skynet's efforts at increasing revenue per transponder were successful, or if the L-Star program has indeed been restarted, or what the possible project is involving Loral and Alcatel in Russia, or what GE is up to in regards to the sat business, or what is Telstar 10, or what is the G* plan for GEO telephony, or what is the next acquisition for Loral......

If everyone used the time and energy "wasted" on the LOR/China allegations on digging up facts about the business at hand, we would all be richer. And now, having wasted this bit of time myself on a non-issue, I will carry on.

I have read the NY Times article & was pleased that this
issue really has nothing to do with Loral. It is solely
political. President Bush allowed China to launch
satellites & was criticized by Gore. Now the shoe is on the
other foot. The only reason that Loral could be hurt in the
short term is that others react like you do. The rational
long term investor understands that this has absolutely
nothing to do with Loral's business plans, & ultimately
the name recognition might be helpful.
