Wow, Winer, what a line: >>It will almost guarantee the negation of a class of metaphors in future historical accounts.<< People die and kill for their "metaphors" (e.g., religion, patriotism, ethnic purity, etc.)--but, I'm doubtful Adrian's take on the pre-VB history of DFR is gonna negate anyone's take on DFR or VB. Adrian's account of the "deals" on the Vancouver Stock Exchange (e.g., your re-post here is a small part of his tome) is indeed chilling. I agree with him that many of the "scams" on the Canadian Stock indices would be less common if a federal-rather-than-provincial Exchange Commission were given regulatory powers a la the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission (SEC)--but/however, Bre-X was also listed on the US-NASDAQ as well as the Canadian-TSE; even a SEC is no panacea. (More metaphors, ha, ha.) I found both Friedland and Boulle to be strait and honest with me. They always treated me fairly and I believe they trusted me (e.g., I never did sign "no-stinking Confidentiality Agreement" at anytime for DFR <grin>). I'm more worried about INCO's recent plunge (below $16 (US) @ NYSE) on the troubles now in Indonesia. My technical friends (on the Motley Fool board) write me that the recent "Chart W" could be a "bullish" sign if the fundamentals ever start turning around. INCO management's often cozy relationship with the Suharto regime casts investment (and political) clouds over P.T.INCO and their sexy new Goro laterite prospect. INCO lately has appeared "snake bit" to me--if they didn't have bad luck they'd have no luck at all. INCO shares at a new price-low do not bode well for INCO's senior management, and I thought a management shake-up was imminent before the May Annual Meeting. I think Sopko may soon be "toast" unless INCO can report some positive accomplishment soon. Sadly, I think Sopko may be ousted for the troubles with Tobin, the VB-EIS, the Inuit, the Innu, nickel-prices, etc. --seems the "all-knowing" Market may require a "scape-goat" and a new "Messiah" (i.e., do you like those metaphors Winer, heh-heh) before the share-price turns around. Good Luck, T. P.S. I prefer Mining metaphors -- certain SI posters may just be "canaries in the coal mine" -- yeah, I worked the soft-rock game in my youth too.
