This stuff fascinates me. Particularly the manufacturing end of it.
As far as Technical Analysis...well all I can say is that it pays to familiarize yourself with all aspects of an investment.
To me, the single most astounding thing about chip making is the speed at which the technology transitions. No one has time to catch up because the target is moving so fast. Being a "me too" company is extremely difficult. Even if you get a jump on some aspect of chipmaking, Intel is right there watching and starts working on a "just in case" product. They also seem to have the time their mistakes.
Intel has appeared to have paid a "die size" price to move on to higher speed grades and slot 1. From what you tell me their process technology will compensate but I can't help but wonder about the margins they could have gotten by selling. 333MHz PentiumMMXs on .25u for a cost of $30.
