Here's another angle to your original question. Why write Dec options when there is more premium on 1 month option? Example: Dec 115 call $11.25 June 115 call 3.25. Multiply this by 7 months (assuming premium available each month till Dec) we get $22.75 premium versus the $11.25 Dec option.
