MB...I read your comment on silver....interesting action on HL stock today....looks like a block of 500k or so. iqc.com

Some block activity on asl, too.(which my sources have eyeballed as one of the best deals on gold producers).

It appears to me that there is selling into strength in the overall market and selective buying on weakness in the metals....Do you agree?

MB,

Yeah, I discussed it about a year ago on the Kahuna thread , but not many folks took it too seriously. I am glad to see the mainstream press pick it up.

The way I see it, instead of paying dividends back to shareholders, companies are buying stock, giving it to their employees as unreported(except buried in the 10-K) salary expense, and the value of the company is diluted. Is it any wonder Price/Book ratios are in the clouds ?

Mike,

You wrote (paraphrasing) that one of the options threads about
covered calls on SI was not only wrong but dangerous. I assume
that you're referring to the "How to write covered calls" thread,
which I've been following for a while. I'm not currently employing
covered calls, but I think that it does have a place, as long as
one isn't just surfing for premiums, as is often emphasized on that
thread. I understand that the expected return is not as high as
plain stock ownership, but the chance of profit is greater. When the
implied volatility is high (depending on the reason of course),
writing covered calls or cash-backed puts seems attractive to me.

Regards,
Zach
