DLL, I'm speaking for those women in Iraq, Iran, most mid-east countries, probably Bosnia, So. America, Africa--who STILL have no voice after all this time. I'll take your post as a "no" answer to my question as to why such pains were taken in ancient times to keep women shackeled in multitudinous ways. The answer lies in logical thinking. Picture either Adam & Eve or the first humans to evolve after stepping out of the ocean(where most scientists believe human life began.) The first child is about to be born. No-one has any medical knowledge of the most basic type. Before the eyes of these first few humans, a baby is born. What would the reaction to this miraculous-looking happening be to these ancient creatures? Naturally, they would assume the person that replicated herself must be a magician or THE CREATOR. It was the original religion. The first humans gave homage to what they considered a female god--a goddess. Of course, within a short time the male realized his superior muscle power(other than around his brain:-) enabled him to dethrone the goddess. But, evidently, it wasn't all that easy because even into biblical times it was found necessary to stamp out even the tiniest crumbs of the goddess religion. Too bad though. If women had been running the world all this time, we would have Utopia by now for everyone in the world. Woman would have shared her power--because of motherhood she has always been more giving, benevolent & loving. She would never have permitted devastating wars that would kill her husband & sons. It makes sense. Think about it.
