Marty -

Reread wdc.com

especially the part that says => "I should also point out and emphasize that the IBM agreement does not preclude other head suppliers from competing on future non-IBM desktop programs at WD"

They do have attorney's. I'd assume they wouldn't add that part if it wasn't going to hold up.

Marty,

<<"It is our intent to remain independent," Haggerty said. "The only thing we don't have is head capability, and now we have a dependable outside supplier."

I hope this last sentence was taken out of context. Maybe today was national bash RDRT day>>

Not at all. RDRT's quality problems at WDC have been fairly well known in the industry for the past several months. There is much afoot at RDRT, including new hires, to help reolve these problems. IMHO they are in a make or break situation with the 2.8 and 3.4 GB per platter programs key. You must watch closely for announcements of quals. Nothing else really matters right now.

I think Cyril Yansouni understands this. He cut his recent Asia trip short, including cancellation of a speaking engagement in Singapore he had for last Monday, in order to go back to help address the urgencies.

Best,
Stitch
