Ref: Learning form history. Seppo: Take the India bomb business. It has been stated that they had no technical reason to do it. So it was a show of macho. I have no quarrel with what you are saying in general,and I even agree with what Hegel said for the most part about history with certain exceptions.Anyway I don't want to go into all that right now for lack of time except for the above comment. Like it or not,I think the Indians did IT for strategic reasons and don't think it was done for 'macho' as you put it.To explain IT away as an exercise in 'macho' is to dismiss all the legitimate reasons behind the action.
