Now wait a minute how do you decide whose hands are proper? Why you do it based on your value system. You may think that a steel mill operator has the "proper hands", others clearly think professional athletes and entertainers have the "proper hands", I favor teachers, artists, scientists myself. Capitalism does not adequately value art and science, compassion and service. Capitalism is merely a way to distribute goods, it is neither moral nor immoral and it only "decides" who will accumulate money based on the marketplace of things capable of being bought and sold. Not all things good and desirable are capable of being bought and sold. That is not a mystical view- it is simply reality, I think.

Jack,

It would be necessary for the rich to understand that it is in their best interests to help the poor. If they did not, they would pay the consequences. Capitalism is still the only "natural" economic system. I don't believe that our country is in better condition for all the attempted intervention and meddling. Capitalism is based on the individual, which is a real entity. "Society" is a word, an apparition. Individuals have substance. You are a doctor, I am a patient. You provide a real service to me, and I give you value in return. The morality inherent in this system is that which acknowledges each individual's right to exist. If you are not paid for your service, as in the case of communism or socialism, you are denied your due, and that is immoral. What is moral is that which promotes life, and your life is not promoted when you are robbed. If you choose to help an individual where the return to you is the satisfaction of promoting the life of another who is in need, then that is also moral. If a third party takes from you to give to someone else, that is immoral. The difference is whether you retain your sovereignty over your own life. It is wrong for someone to take that away from you.
