But you can already see the human response to overpopulation if you look at other geographic areas and other times in history. Even in our own country at this time you can see the psychological effects of overpopulation- crime increases, as do alienation and other types of mental illness. So even though we are not rats or fruit flies, we are limited by the same rules of population growth. All populations tend towards vertical asymptotic increase if they are unchecked, and unchecked population growth inevitably results in disaster-whether you are a rat, or a fly, or a human.
