Who knows why they wouldn't give you credit. I bought my Dell P100 in 1995 also, in November. I had Perfect Office which I was going to transfer from my 486, so I told them I wanted a credit because I didn't want MS-Office. They gave me credit off the price. I don't remember the exact $ amount of credit, but it was less than the street price.
