LarryJ: Thanks. I've tried to get through to IR in CA, left a message, without a response. Perhaps the Lehman Expo is the reason. If the company indeed meets estimates, it would be a major change from the past two quarters and a sign of recovery. But it has a long way to go.

Larry,
Is it that exciting that Adaptec will meet reduced estimates? Isn't the issue what will happen in the more distant future for this company?
There are some legitimate issues confronting the company that give pause to prospective investors, and a dwindling stream of income from a leading product in a declining market doesn't really obviate those concerns. I, for one, am still waiting for the company to illuminate the post-Symbios company prospects. Nobody seems to know anything about the actual profitability of Symbios, and what, how much and when positive benefits of the merger will accrue to the bottom line. Or what will happen if the Justice Dept nixes the deal.
While I believe the management is capable and forward looking, at the moment the road to future prosperity is not clearly illumined. Product transitions are very difficult to assess and essentially equate to the reinvention of the company, with all the attendant uncertainties and risks, leaving many to prefer sitting on their hands to bungee jumping into the fray.
