Just a thought.
Today there was a "beeper" failure across the country because one satelite broke down. That little problem caused major headaches for a lot of people but it didn't come close to the "headaches" companies and governments are going to have when their computer systems "crash" because they hadn't taken care of the y2k problem. The beeper headache lasted a part of a day and in many circumstances, as in hospitals, there were alternate systems to get around the problem during the short time blackout. The y2k problem will last a lot longer than a part of a day, and it will cause some serious problems for companies that have not prepared for it and it will also cause problems for people who had nothing to do with not solving the problem-they will just be "victims". I am aware that the beeper problem is not related to the y2k problem, but I just couldn't help but see a similarity in that when you are relying on technology you better be as prepared as possible for all kinds of problems jumping up. For so many companies and governments to have allowed the situation to have gone so far in the y2k area ( which is not jumping up but right there in front of them) without doing anything about it is mind boggling.
I would hope that some people in the right places see the correlation and get talking and acting on the y2k problem soon enough to have a positive effect.
Have a nice day all.
