There was a post about two months ago showing large short interest. This was discussed as being foolish to short a company thats under book value unless there is something systemically wrong.

I don't have time to look for it right now as I am at work, but perhaps someone reading the thread may know.

Its nice to have some disscussion on the thread. Personally I think we are going to recover faster than people think. As Zeev has pointed out, the demand for silicon continues to grow, and due to the Asian problem, there aren't any more wafer plants coming on line. Constant supply and growing demand are a formula for higher prices.

Short Interest in the middle of April was 955,210, down from 1,034,546 in March. Another interesting fact is the SEC rules governing company buybacks. MEMC can only buy 25% of the avg. daily monthly volume on any given day and they can't buy on an uptick. With volume around 30,000, 25% is 7,500 shares. I wish I knew how much, if any, they have bought back already.

**OT** Why aren't the quotes appearing at the bottom of the posts today? Anyone know?

I just found the answer:Quotes will not be available today. The satellite Galaxy 4 is spinning out of control
and has been since 6pm last evening. The outage has caused pagers, NBC, ABC
and other data vendors to lose contact with their data sources.

We have been affected by this outage and it is beyond our control.

We apologize for the inconvenience
