If it's as low as 0.70, then it is considerably below the
Q1 number of 0.84.

We all know how wrong analysts can be, Gene. Lately, there's been nothing but downside surprises, and yet, our analyst friends keep raising numbers for later this year and 1999. Nope, I think the analysts are just as hard-headed as most of the INTC bulls on this board...it's doubtful they make .70 at this point...my guess is more like .40, if they are lucky....and what would happen if (Gasp!) INTC actually lost money for the quarter??? Don't forget the lessons of the past, INTC was right there for the oversupply and price erosion in watch chips (remember Microma? probably, you don't). The semiconductor chip suppliers have done this time and time again to themselves, fortunately, I have a very, very long memory, and I don't believe that just because there are a bunch of PhDs running the company, that they will not repeat their same mistakes...
