I have been long on CUBE for a while now, but I'm currently questioning my position because of what I see as a major shift in technology that is on the horizon. Let me explain:

I am a multimedia producer who works a lot with digital video. I am extremely impressed with the newest DV solutions: camcorders, FireWire, and editing software, that are currently available on the market. For $1000 (+ computer and camcorder) I can have an editing suite that rivals the big boys. The DV codec is mainly QuickTime based, but I'm not real sure on the technicalities of codecs.

My main concerns/questions are: What kind of role will CUBE play in, what I see as, the new DV revolution? Is MPEG going to be replaced by this DV codec? I am sure that the DV codec could be tuned for DVD playback as well (although the current standard data rate is 3.6 MB/sec). Does anybody have some thoughts on this?
