I think it would actually be over 2000 Dow points at todays levels. We started at 2200 something Dow the day of the crash. 4 times higher now.

I wonder if CNBC will do another 7000 Dow Special when we break it again?

You hit the nail on the head. The leveraged risks are enormous today. Think of all the derivatives that hadn't been hatched/exploited in 1987!

The only sobering fact is that so far the powers that be have shown an ability to keep this on course.

A comment on scrap. I'd bet that there was so much melted during the Hunt run up that hasn't been replaced, that there isn't as many silver tea sets as might be expected.
