I just watched Suharto resign on CNN...what a historic moment and CNN was there...again<g> Democracy Indonesian Style Imaginary dialogue between Suharto and gang: Suharto to Kids: Kids, how is business going? Wow, is it THAT bad? Hmm, there seems to be a lack of confidence in my leadership? What's the way out? Only a peaceful transfer of leadership will help your business and have IMF come back to bail us out? Ok, let me call my buddy Habibi. Suharto to Habibi: Habibi my man my kids are hurting and I haven't seen any new cash myself rolling in lately. Those bastards at the IMF have us by the balls. Let's make a deal. If I make you President you got to give me 20% of the $43 billion of the IMF money, and give 10% to each of my kids. How about you? Ok, you keep 10% and give the other 10% to the people and the fatherland. We are sacrificing for them anyway, even though they do not appreciate it. What? YOu want to be President for the full 5 year term? Ok my previous cuts stand and then I, kids and gang will get a cut for any national projects that we start okay, fair is fair. Ok you are worrying about the tall general? I ll take care of him, don't worry about that. We'll give him 5% of the 43 billion and leave 5% for the people, let's not spoil them right away. They must realize that there is hard work ahead to restore the fatherland to its former glory. So from now on, whenever you are asked about elections, you just stick to the constitutional process line...yeah, markets love this stability stuff, told my kids to buy some stocks early today when I made up my mind.
