Hi Everybody,

Since the Applied conference call we have all been wondering about CMP market share. Posting a little of the information I have on this thread might help alleviate some of the mail I have been receiving about this subject. :-) I hope you all find some use for this in your analysis.

One Wall Street analyst I spoke with after the Applied earnings conference call did get information on their CMP orders and shipments for the last few quarters. If you want to verify this you might give them a call. AMAT seems to be making nice headway in CMP - not a surprise.

Shipments in Q1 ranged between $45 and $50 million. In Q2, shipments were approximately $46 million. Bookings in Q2 were $75 to $80 million. Apparently they are taking share from IPEC and Strasbaugh - not SpeedFam.

In '97 Applied had $80 million in orders and shipped $26 million in product.

It was mentioned that these deliveries and orders were spread across a host of customers. My guess is that these are still onsie-twosie type orders to seed the markets (beta testing). There still appears to be some bugs to be ironed out but one can be relatively sure AMAT will work these out in the near future.

Regards,

Carl

Semibull: And a good spin it is <g>. Your posts and Carl's posts confirm my suspicions of what is probably going on here. Thanks.
