>>>Is this really good for CKFR?

This is really good IMO. It has taken years for CheckFree to get up to the 50% electronic transaction rate, and now overnight that will be increased to 85%. As far as effecting if you pay by Visa or E-Pay, I don't see any impact, this agreement is mostly a backend change more than any else, a win - win situation. Also, you need to have a little faith in Pete, he owns 6+ million shares, and knows more than anyone else about Bill Pay, and what will effect it.

This agreement is also a huge Push for CheckFree's E-Bill:

"Visa will also join Integrion in leveraging CheckFree's E-Bill solution. "It's important to our members and to the billing community that CheckFree has created open solutions that use the banking
nfrastructure for distribution and payment of bills," said Stewart. "We will work closely with CheckFree and Integrion to make E-Bill an excellent choice for our members."

...Here's a hint how it will work:

"With its connections to merchants, Checkfree would make the payment and ePay would be the "switch accepting the request from a consumer's financial institution and routing it to the biller's financial institution," Mr. Stewart said."

If CF gets a viable "payment from credit card" capability out of this it will be huge. Banks and consumers have demanded it for years, and CF hasn't been able to effectively deliver it.

>>>Frankly, at first glance this looks like a shotgun marriage to me. Integrion insists that CKFR share the wealth with one of their members, and CKFR can hardly refuse. But what's in it for CKFR?

Sounds like one of those Farmers' Daughter Joke to me!

If you wan't to buy something on the web most merchants don't offer a payment method from your checking account. But Visa has thousands banks which might be interested in e-Billing their statements with CheckFree, let alone the merchants which honor visa. I read the thing sideways as usual, but it looks to me like CheckFree is working with another major biller Visa? If true we're the traveling salesman. Yippie!

Maybee you could even drill down through your visa bill, to the merchant line item within the presented visa bill. Talk about an interactive marketing tool for the merchants involved, including the banks. Now that is one thing given their closed system MSDFC would be very, very hard pressed to duplicate. In fact I don't think they could, has to be open with links to do that. In saying that CheckFree/Visa could make that visa bill presentment realtime interactive like on line banking.

Just think...drill down right though a check or a charge to the merchant site?

Looks Nasty to me....

BTW that would make the service more valuable the 'bannar' adds on search engines...because you would be actually directing web traffic between merchants and the 'already customers'
