Thank's Jonathan, your the first to post a very good understanding of the situation with GALTF. I had the stock and sold before I was to have a loss, but could never figure out why it went down so far. I think you summed it up well.

Jonathan, the (limited) research I've done suggests that GALTF does
in fact have an "unfair competitive advantage" with respective to its
Ethernet chips in that despite your predictions of possible future competition, GALTF is well ahead of the curve and should sustain an
advantage at least through the current product cycle. I completely agree that CSCO is a better fundamental investment, but what are your
thoughts, specific to today's competitive situation, which will impact GALTF stock price in the next six months? Also, can you furnish any references to NEC "taking major business away from GALTF"?. Thanks for your input, it's the most valuable I've seen
on this thread.

Jonathan, strong post, yet rather biased against GALTF - and I don't
know if you own the stock or not. CSCO has been their primary customer. Intel and NEC and others are not cutting into that business relationship. I was worried for awhile as their latest product was tardy to the market but now it's shipping and CSCO has re-upped. A very good sign for the future.

Further, GALTF is hedging upwards into MMCN's market space, which would be considered less a switch chip commodity market. But commodity market or no, GALTF tends to execute very well and that's the name of the game in the fabless IC business. To substantiate this, GALTF was named the fabless semiconductor company of the year by the semi fabless association - made up of some great chip companies.

Further-further: CSCO and Intel are on everybody's radar screens. Everybody. The beauty about GALTF and other quality suppliers to the CSCO's of the world, is that often times they get overlooked. That's where you can find your real gainers, and bargains. I'd take GALTF at 23 11/16 (Friday's close) over CSCO at 76 1/2, any day. Which is the better bargain with the most near term upside? And I like CSCO, but GALTF's a steal at these prices.
