Must read in the infoweek magazine: to sum it up they say that the clear winner today is the zip drive and that the hif? from sony will have it hard to replace it. they also said that syqt has given up the low end market and admitted that the zip has won that battle and that they ls120 lags way behind the zip. zip is winning and is on the way if not already to be the standard by shear numbers installed. They quote gm and dell who have standarized in their offices on zip and jaz....

I enjoyed that story. Bad chemistry, but a great tale. It's either an urban legend or the teach felt generous. Reminds me of a college physics lab I took. It was just before Christmas break and we were plotting some electromagnetic effect in order to prove one of Maxwell's equations. My results were wrong. Really, really wrong. The result was supposed to be a line with a slope of 1 or so. I could have understood a slope of .75, or 1.25. But my line had a slope of something like -.50. It was physically impossible for the slope to actually be negative, but there it was on my chart, a sure F. But we were trained to turn in the results we got, and so I did, including an unusually long section on possible sources of error. I concluded "These results conclusively prove there is no Santa Claus." He gave me an "A" with "Oh yeah? Ho Ho!" next to it.
