You missed the point, When I referred to 1 oppresser and many oppressed I was referring to Russia vs other Soviet states.Since India does not have one overwhelming majority trying to force its will on others, there is no reason for India to disintegrate. You seem to bring this up frequently and I have to try to reeducate you each time.

The BJP may have come to power using the ploy of Hindu greatness etc. but that is just electioneering. Despite Exchange controls and license raj, the government in India is less intrusive in the daily lives of the masses, (yes I know you might have to bribe a babu at every step) but you could go thru half a lifetime without the government knowing that you exist. This has not changed since colonial times. What this means is that regardless of strong centre , or weak centre India will go on because like a great brand name, the concept of India is etched in the minds of 1 billion people most of them born after independence.
<how many WASP's have immigrated to India> , well how about 10 million refugees from Bangladesh, Pathans from Afghanistan, Tibetans ,Parsis etc. India is part of the natural world where borders are not cast in stone, and not controlled by any government. People like the bora muslims have relatives in Pakistan and no amount of discord between India and Pak is going to lessen their ties.Ditto for Tamils in India and Sri Lanka.
As for rants about green card etc.. The world belongs to them that take what it has to offer, be it a green card or the ancient wisdom of the bhagavad geeta, or the beauty of a foreign language. The musician Yanni said the things that bring happiness are things accessible to every man.

Time out guys.

Worswick:

Allow me to butt in here if you don't mind (ooops too late to stop me anyway-<gg>). The WASPS (as you put it),did they not originally come to America to escape some sort religious and other social persecution???? I know the one million or so Indians didn't come here on the count of any persecution religious or otherwise. Also most of them do not fall under the category of 'the tired, the poor, the oppressed' or anything like that.Well what am I saying you already know all this, sorry.
