Interesting Post

Couple of things that worry me:

1. Barnesandnoble.com sales for last qtr were well shortof what I was hoping for. Indeed, they posted revenue growth of under 20%.

2. AMZN revenue growth for same period was twice that of barnesandnoble.com Sad reality is that not only are AMZN sales far greater but they are growing at a faster clip.

hmmmm....

The report also mentioned that 20% of books bought online are computer
books, and that the high cost of shipping actually nullified the discounts unless
you bought more than 45$ worth of books, the 'breakeven point'. <<

Granted that high cost of shipping would nullify your discount by buying one or two books on line, but you have to pay shipping cost with all the online stores. It's still cheaper and more convenient to buy online than it's to ride in your car, burn gas and time, to the store in my view.

There was a story on CNBC about Barnes and Noble (BKS). It was after
the close today and it mentioned that BKS has declared "war" on AMZN,
and said that BKS was prepared to throw 25-30 million dollars into
advertising to bring people to its site barnesandnoble.com<<

25 to 30 million is a drop in the bucket compared to what Amzn is spending.

According to RK unique hits fell from 4.859 mil to 4.178
mil from March to April, respectively.<<

And who is RK? Would you please provide a link with that story? Thanks, Mark
