but our posting off-topic items in no way prevents anyone from posting a message on-topic. Yes, that's right, but taken to its logical extreme, anybody ought to be able to post anywhere about anything. It's my personal preference, which I know comports with that of the majority, that SI members respect the topic of each thread. The reason I am "jumping the gun" is that we're Hot Subject #1 right now and I know we're attracting lots of passers-by, and rather than letting the thread turn into yet another blur of miscellaneous discussion, I had hoped we'd divert them to the proper forums.
