Big buying blocks of BAY trading today in the last hour !Looking at the daily chart, I saw one block of 80,000 shares at 3:00 PM EST preceded by several blocks of 40,000s and 60,000s and finally a block of 80,000 crossing at 4:00 PM EST. All of these buys have boosted
the share price from $25 to close at above $26. Something may be in the works! Some big boys out there might know something big to be announced next week. Options of the June and July 30 also looked very busy in the last trading hour ! Happy Trading and good luck to all.

Company Press Release
Bay Networks and UC Berkeley Forge Technology Partnership
Bay Networks Endows a Chair in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences and Grants $4.9 Million in Networking Equipment
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 1998-- Bay Networks,(R) Inc. (NYSE:BAY - news) today strengthened its long-standing relationship with the University of California, Berkeley through the endowment of a distinguished professorship in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences and a grant of a $4.9 million in networking equipment.

The Bay Networks Distinguished Professorship is a permanent endowment to support an EECS professor, demonstrating Bay Networks' commitment to funding the next generation of technology innovators who will keep the information technology industry vital and moving quickly. This endowment represents a new level of commitment to education in the Silicon Valley by a major networking company.

The equipment grant is being given to both the EECS department and the university's Computer Network Services organization. The goal of the grant is to enable EECS and the university to maintain their premier stature in producing graduates and technical advances by deploying the most advanced networking technologies available for departmental and campus-wide communication and research.

As part of the equipment grant, Bay Networks will also provide CNS with unlimited training on Bay Networks products.

''Bay Networks considers UC Berkeley to be one of the most important sources of talent for the information technology industry in Silicon Valley, the world headquarters of what is likely the most significant industry of the next century,'' said Dr. Daniel Pitt, vice president of Bay Networks and Director of the Bay Architecture Lab.

''We look forward to expanding our excellent collaborative relationship with the university, and are proud to help sustain EECS and the university in this role.''

''This exceptional commitment cements the outstanding working relationship between Bay Networks and the Berkeley campus,'' said Randy Katz, chair of UC Berkeley's EECS department. ''We are excited about working with Bay Networks to achieve the next level of advanced networking infrastructure that will enable more innovations in network-aware services and applications.''

Bay Networks maintains collaborative relationships between the company's Architecture Lab and UC Berkeley faculty, and funds graduate student research. Recently, Bay Networks also became a member of UC Berkeley's Industrial Liaison Program, which is designed to encourage close cooperation between the industrial community and the College of Engineering.

This association includes a faster transfer and exchange of the university's research results to member companies, collaborative research focused on problems which interest the industrial community, timely industry access to publications, students, and faculty, and industrial involvement in research and education through grants to support the university's activities.

In addition, CNS has already built its campus backbone using Bay Networks Accelar routing switches, implementing Layer 3 and Gigabit Ethernet to prepare the university for deployment of next-generation applications.

With INTC threw in towel, CSCO is recognized two steps ahead in this field. BAY or COMS must team up with another company to be able to compete. If rumor is only rumor and no result, BAY will drop below $20 easily. However, if there is an action, over $32 is also easy. What is your bet?
