Terrence, your unbending ideology is making me feel exhausted tonight. By saying that SF Chronicle columnists range from wonderful compassionate free thinkers to the right of Attila the Hun, I am simply saying in a different way that they really run the gamut of political philosophies. To say that liberals are warmed over Trotskyites is really unfair to liberals. There is a huge difference between liberals and even socialists, who are much less malevolent than Communists. But really, these systems went bankrupt based on a combination of bad leadership and impracticality of belief systems. The original goals were to do good for mankind. Stalin seems much more evil to me than Trotsky--closer to Hitler, really. Why is it you often use him to denigrate ideas with which you don't agree?
