Hi Steve: On May 5, 1998, I received a Class Action notice covering hundreds of NASDQ companies that claimed unfair trading (bid/ask price quotes). The lead attorneys feel they can make a case against several brokerage houses that allegedly traded these securities unfairly. I really did not pay too much attention to it but I did notice that NOVELL WAS NOT INCLUDED in their list of securities.

The new Novell building looks nice and should become a valuable asset in the future for the company. I still think the UTAH campus should be consolidated and moved to Silicon Valley. A merger with Netscape could potentially propel both companies back into the main stream of enterprise computing on the Internet.

Also if their new JVM (Java Virtual Machine) is futher developed and made more efficient with (1) the next generation processors (ie. Intel Merced), (2) integrated to work seamless on different OS's (ie. Windows NT, Solaris, Unix) and (3) Netware 5 is optimized to utilize both standard IP and JAVA protocals (Netware IMO is still too proprietary and difficult for 3rd party developers to write new applications) and new server side (JAVA) technologies ; ..... Novell could leap frog its self back into an industry leader.

This however, will take a few years, a proactive management team and a forward looking BOD with current Internet and enterprise computing experience. Too bad Novell stockholders didn't approve the new BOD proposals from Norada. Perhaps shareholders will be more demanding of the BOD next year as it becomes clear that the current strategies are not producing the needed growth numbers in both revenues and earnings to demand a double digit PE.
