CGB,

Again, do some research before you spout off. Specifically, look into California's Little Lindbergh Law and Caryl Chessman.

I have to go offline now.

According to that reasoning certain politicians should be arrested, tried, found guilty of "killing the spirit" of their constituents, and sentenced to execution.

Here's something revealing you sai:"according to the system of justice we have at the moment". Doesn't that concept disturb you? "...of the moment"? Don't you think that justice should be based on objective laws and not be something that can change under the weight of public opinion, political expediancy or emotionally charged revenge? Shouldn't justice be more than a whim?

Last observation: Al Checchi is an evil man and would've been deported by the founding fathers.

<<Bill, I'm sure you can understand that I have trouble understanding why an elected official would say something that might well get him booted right out of office.>>

A large number of the voters from his district showed up to back him up. These people were carrying illegally any way so a right to carry law would give their victims a chance at being equally armed.

Christine,

<<Of course, everyone has the right to defend themselves, not really knowing the full intent of the criminal who is attacking them.>>

So you would concede this right, but not a right to the means of defense, i.e. a gun. Your concession is meaningless.
