X: Assuming you were born after 1917, you were born AFTER income taxes had begun to be assessed. The people of the United States NEVER voted for them. Nor was a general referendum ever held seeking the approval of the voters. Quite the opposite, it was sold to the governors of the states (who were originally opposed to it) as something that would only affect a tiny minority -- those that earned more than $5,000 a year, in those days the very wealthy. The press warned about it, pointing out that it would never stop there in future years -- they were right. If you were born after WWII you grew up expecting taxes to be withheld from your paycheck. Again, this was never voted on or approved by the people of the United States, but arbitrarily declared through executive order as an emergency wartime measure TO BE RESCINDED AFTER THE CESSATION OF HOSTILITIES. But wait, it was never stopped, you see, the politicians found a "windfall" money they could spend faster and that gave them greater power. An argument could be made that this wartime "emergency" that was never rescinded was the economic foundation that fueled the criminal juggernaut of social programs that emerged like .45 slugs ripping down the barrel of an old Thompson machine gun right into the heart and social structure of America and the American family. Critical in-depth analysis reveals that almost without exception every social program from FDRs through the present has failed in some way, some spectacularly -- or worse, had the opposite effect of its intention. As for my imagination, I am a published writer, draw and paint, have exhibited my paintings at art shows and won awards, own three companies, etc., etc. :-P FT
