re: blasting mutant space monsters

I guess blasting mutant space monsters is just one more thing I will be able to do faster and cheaper on my K6 than on a PII.

So where does Intel maintain its competitive advantage, given AMD's superior integer and gaming performance?

CAD/CAM/CAE
Enterprise applications
Servers

These are not a large portion of the x86 market. I suppose if you want to do any of these things properly, you should be using Unix and a non-x86 platform, anyway.

"In recent years, 3D has come of age in the world of personal computing. According to Jon Peddie Associates (JPA), 3D is currently the fastest growing market segment in the PC industry and is expected to double in size in the next two years." --AMD web site

I really hope, for AMD's sake, that Intel takes the PC gaming portion of the market as seriously as Elmer and Time Traveler.

Time Traveller:

<<That chip was designed for all-star game players like Maxwell to blast away more mutant Space Aliens more efficiently>>

So what do you use your PII for? Spreadsheet and Powerpoint for your presentation and MS Words to write love letter? And what do you use your floating point for? Calculating taxes and house mortgage?

<<Dell has been very profitable with high growth rate making and selling high quality PCs, not those cheap, unprofitable, and garbage ones.>>

I am disappointed that an intelligent person like you can call a cheap computer a garbage. I saw a Hewlett Packard Pentium 233 at Best Buy yesterday selling for $700. This computer will do just about anything you ask for and even more. So is this a garbage? You have no admiration of technology and human innovation. You are just blindly driven by marketing.

TT, re:<as far as K6-2 goes, Time Traveler has not seen any official reviews on it>

BOOT magazine is planning their July issue around the K6-2. Care to guess what they'll say?
