Greetings everyone.... I just found this thread and thought it would be a very interesting one to follow. Having said that, I read a few days' worth of posts and wanted to comment on a few items..No a high percentage of that group are Muslim and Islam and are drastcally against Christianity. These same innocent people are using body bombs and that is a Christian thing to do right? They steal cars harrass children through rocks at tourist, etc. Nancy - I can honestly say I haven't seen so many stereotypes put all together in one paragraph. The above is no where close to being true. Let me try to explain why.... First and foremost, a Muslim by definition is not against Christianity. Notice I say, "By definition." Why is that? Well it's simple really. Islam is the religion of God to the Muslim. And one of the items of faith of a Muslim is to believe in the Books and religions sent down by God. Judaism, Christianity, etc. These were true messages sent from God to humanity. It is because of this that Islam refers to itself as the completion of what God sent to humankind. Not another religion but the same religion. Muslims worship one and only one God (that phrase is repeated throughout prayers which are performed throughout the day) and believe in Jesus, Moses, Noah, etc. Some of this you might know and if so, that's excellent. It's just that some of your comments came away rather insulting as if you didn't know much about the religion. I'm sure you meant no harm. To refer to Muslims as terrorists, I hate to say, is rather ignorant. Besides being strictly against Islamic beliefs, terrorism is something done by a few individuals magnified by the press. When Timothy McVeigh killed hundreds of people at Oklahoma, not once did anyone say it was religiously motivated. Had it been a Muslim, the titles on the Newspapers, I can assure you, would have mentioned it being Islamically motivated. People seem to believe in something the more they here it. So they've simple come to believe slanders and stereotypes when anyone who's spent time outside the U.S. knows how inane they are. There's more I could go into but I don't want to bore anyone. Besides, it's my first post on the thread. Just wanting to clean the air. Thanks!
