mph, I'm in an innovative technology business that supplies non-toxic and non-hazardous products to engineering firms doing clean ups for petroleum-contaminated sites. Many of these projects have to do with removing old buried tanks from old gas stations. There is money from the federal EPA superfund for some things. It depends how bad the site is and if the ground water is at risk of contamination. There are some sites that are allowed to remain to naturally degrade. The amount of federal and state intervention in this area is unbelievable. For oil spills, no less than 12 different groups sign off in Florida. When the source point can be identified with accuracy, the person or company causing it is billed, otherwise government funds are involved.
