Actually, you sound like the one that is desperate to me, Bikergirl. Creating a community online is a good move for Etrade, along with holding to their guns on trade price. If they were desperate, they would lower their commissions! Takes a lot of guts to charge $20 when your competitors are in the $10 range. Shows they are building a premium brand. Which is why I remain their customer- I want a quality service, not a fly-by-night one. Anyway, how is letting their customers discuss stocks in any way equal to Etrade recommending stocks? Did you know in their professional investor area there are lots of stock recommendations? The recommendatiosn are made by an analyst organization that they buy the content from, but they are presented with the etrade brand. Dragonfly

They will have the usual disclaimers. Actually the idea is to create an internet portal. Most people use the internet for EMail,financial info and news. Since they already have nearly half a million customers why not make ETrade your portal to the net. Therefore they have to offer all the things that Yahoo Excite et al offer. So they will supply a chat room and probably Email as well. If your ISP can do it so can they. they will also hopefully become an ISP which will bring you directly to their server thus improving latency. If they can get it up this will be a plus for EGRP.It ws supposed to be up Friday and has been reviewed by employees for a few days now. JFD
