Hi Freddy, Happy Memorial Day!
You see, that's where you just don't understand me at all! It doesn't bother or threaten me at all to listen to others or read their opinions and arguments. The Didache was very interesting and I enjoyed hearing about it. It sounds like a very civilized document. I understand it was created as a kind of handbook for new converts.
I am not personally in favor of abortion, and have no political ax to grind. The only thing I hate is when people get mad, mean, personal,or won't listen to each other. Which seems to happen a lot around here

Our point was that you were not admitting that the issue has been as difficult a one for the Christian Church as it has for everyone else. We were just making sure you didn't get away with anything--(and you were trying! You were setting up that US against THEM thing that completely destroys any chance of real sharing and understanding or knowledge of historical truth.) The Didache said one thing, Augustine another, Jerome another ---The church has had the same arguments about life of the mother, when does life actually begin, when does the soul enter the body....as all moral, conscientious people who are trying to come to the right decisions. That's all I was saying anyway.
I do agree with you about the vegetable souls, but be fair, some of those are wearing little crosses around their necks.

Jfred,

Okay, this thread has been way too quiet and sedate lately. I'm feeling kinda feisty and have a couple of hours to kill, so I thought I'd glom onto what I've seen posted here and on other threads over the past few days and stir something up. Here goes:

Why do so many men have so much to say about abortion? What I mean by this is that until medical science makes it possible for men to conceive babies, bear them, go through the labor experience, and deliver them, then take the greater responsibility (usually) for nurturing them and rearing them to adulthood, I think men would do well and be wise to keep their big mouths shut. <vbg>

Please note that no opinion is given above, save an opinion as to who should and should not have an opinion or vote on the issue.
