Remember, everybody: there is some deep insanity out there about y2k issues. Some of the "experts" you're quoting are simply "edge" Christians, using the y2k scenario to rationalize preparation for the apocalypse. The same people writing unsubstantiated y2k stories are writing essays about the Four Horsemen. I don't care if they used to be technologists.

I have been researching the credibility of many of these sources, and find them lacking. My current belief is that not only will interest in y2k and embedded systems *decrease* in the next 12 months, but that the facts will begin to show less and less of any real threat to business as usual. My NYTimesSyndie column will indicate this.
