Douglas,
I think you showed your true colors way back in Feb.:

"The apocalyptic nature of y2k evangelism worries me more than it fortifies my resolve as an investor. I have begun to see the pro-tpro enthusiasm as a mild form of cult fever. True, all stocks are pyramid schemes in one way or another, but this one has some of the characteristics of a quasi-spiritual multi-level marketing scheme. Belief in the coming disaster is supposed to fuel commitment to the stock. Pumping one another up, and converting more friends and relatives into believers insures the growth and maintenance of faith."

I'm going to have to think about that Douglas.
But what do you think about the company these days?

And is your column available anywhere on the net.
I'd like to read it...

John

Douglas, when writing an article about Y2K please keep in mind your perspective on the problem versus that of your readers. For example, as one aware of the problem I see articles about it everywhere. Someone here even posted links to this past Sunday's Richmond Times-Dispatch where they devoted an entire section to Y2K. However, ask the "guy on the street" about Y2K and they don't know the first thing about it.

So, for you to write that things aren't as bad as people say assumes people know what is being said in the first place. Dangerous assumption.

Perhaps things aren't as bad as you originally thought. That would be good news for all of us here on SI who are keen to the problem in general; perhaps you'd like to share more of your research with us. But please don't confuse those of us who "spread the word incessantly" with those of us who "beat people over the head with prophesies of a global meltdown". Thanks!

- Jeff

Douglas

Have you ever written a program in assembly language? How about absolute? How about any language for a rom, prom or e-prom or any other type of chip? Just curious.
