I purchased an HWP in the State of Delaware with P II, 4 GB Harddrive,
56.6 Modem, 32x CdRom for $1339. about 1 and 1/2 month ago. The Comparable (almost identical) DELL unit would have cost $439. more when I add in shipping and tax costs.

>Model for model there is no product that you can get in retail
for less than you can it at DELL. But I suppose you can say anything
you want. How about some proof of your assertions? <

Well Jim, let me open your eyes. Here are the specs and prices as
of today (Dell, online just before typing this message and Compaq
prices published over the past weekend from local NY newspapers):

Compaq Presario Dell Dimension XPS D
300 MHz PII 300 MHz PII
64 MB RAM 64 MB Ram
8.0 GB Drive 6.4 GB Drive
4MB AGP video 4MB AGP video
DVD drive 32x CD-ROM
56K modem 56K modem
Cheap monitor Cheap monitor
Keyboard, mouse Keyboard, mouse
Cheap speakers Cheap speakers
Cheap color printer
Cheap hand-held scanner

$1499 plus tax $2014 plus tax/shipping

Note that the Compaq PC has DVD, a larger hard drive, and a low-end
color printer and hand-held scanner with it. The DVD and larger
hard-drive are newer components when compared to the Dell stuff,
and less expensive. About $500 less expensive.
