Brian, Checking your example out does not yield what you have reported. The CPQ and DELL online stores were used to arrive at a legitimate comparison. I priced the systems without a monitor to keep the matter simple. DELL no longer list a 6.4 GB drive as an option on an XPS. DELL's lowest priced speaker is the ACS-90 which is better than CPQ Monitor mounted speakers. Compaq Presario Dell Dimension XPS D 300 MHz PII 300 MHz PII 64 MB RAM 64 MB Ram 8.0 GB Drive 8.1 GB Drive 4MB AGP video 4MB AGP video DVD drive 32x CD-ROM 56K modem 56K modem Cheap monitor Cheap monitor Keyboard, mouse Keyboard, mouse Cheap speakers Cheap speakers $1738 plus tax and gasoline $1696 plus tax/shipping CPQ is not offering a Cheap color printer or a Cheap hand-held scanner on its website. But then I suppose a retailer can give away his entire stock if he wants too. especially if its a going out of business sale.
