To all CMP thread heads, we are fast approaching the darkest hour prior to entering the valley of the shadow of death. I have followed SFAM and the other CMP participants. SFAM is clearly a survivor; period! Many over the next 2 quarters will endeavor to convince you that AMAT will run SFAM & IPEC out of town. Hogwash! Remember, you must buy semi-equips when blood is running in the streets. All equips will suffer over the next 2 quarters. The time to buy is looming large. Wait until the last analyst downgrade. CFA's must throw in the towel on good Co's during the recession, because they are motivated by political pressure within their firms from portfolio managers. I see this happen all of the time in my career.

I always try to buy when it is politically incorrect. I recently purchased ASND and RATL in the valley. Also, I'm currently buying ADPT and CPQ. I'm also riding Cymi and Veco down into the valley for a 99 recovery. The latter 2 were poor timing on my part. In any event, don't for one moment question your resolve on this company or IPEC now that the blood has begun to flow. These two companies will offer a huge kick when the recovery restores fundamentals during 1999.

Finally, keep a watchful eye on memory and disk drive pricing for your hint of an impending turn, then load up the store on equips during the darkest hour and be patient; you will be well rewarded.

Hope this helps,

Jay
