David, you surprise me.

Zip Code (02194) and Postal Code 4M6 H5J are most definitely not the same thing.

Speaking as someone with whom you can quibble down to the hair, to be the same thing, they would both have to be postal codes or Zip Codes and they would both have to be the same alphanumeric set of characters and they would both have to designate the same geographical area.

If you're gonna quibble, quibble right, man!

This time value is made of two parts:

The whole number 35941 represents number of days since December 31, 1899, and the fraction represents the current time as a proportion of a 24 hour day. (24 X .8800 = 9:17 PM) This system is y2k compliant, but not y1k compliant.
