John,

This has become the mantra of everyone who competes against MSFT.

Sure its the mantra for every executive that chooses to compete directly against msft primarily on price with no competitive advantage to the user. Its not like this is new - msft has been working on sql server for years. Can someone explain to me why Orcl isnt where Sap is now? Or why Orcl apps were just overtaken as #2 by PSFT (a company that was NOTHING 5 yrs ago)? Or why Netscape isn't where Yahoo is now? Do Orcl or Nscp deserve my sympathy and a bunch of taxes to pursue msft legally just because their executives took their eye off the ball?

Just so this post isn't completely unconstructive, I'll tell you what Orcl should do. They should buy I2 or Manu. In fact Manu is on sale!! Then they could actually win some business. Will they do that? I doubt it, you see Larry thinks he can do everything better than everybody else and refuses to admit defeat.
