FWIW, DAWK is seeing signs of recovery in the semi industry:
(from their 5/13/98 earnings release)

" Although the semiconductor industry downturn continues to effect our operations, the first quarter of 1998 showed signs that a recovery is near," Ronald W. Daw, president and chief executive officer.

"We saw an increase in the bidding process during the first quarter of 1998. Many of the projects we proposed on were for air handling systems. We believe that this activity is the first sign that the
semiconductor manufacturers are increasing their spending on new or expanded manufacturing facilities.

"While we cannot know the exact timing of a recovery, we believe that by the end of 1998 there will be a significant increase in semiconductor and micro-electronic facility construction and this increase will be reflected in our results of operations."

Also, after the close today, DAWK announced a relatively huge $18 million order from China: (note that DAWK's total revenues for CY'97 were $52.6MM)

Could it be that China may make up for slowness elsewhere in Asia?

Would of the experts here care to comment on the potential significance of the above in relation to WFR & the timing of the semi industry's recovery? I have been totally out of semi's for some time now, but am considering getting back in soon for a long term investment.

Thank you in advance,

JL
