Hi Les:

My feelings about 'clean slate' are that the traditional bank internet forays are similar to Continental Lite, Shuttle by United et cetera. Southwest is much stronger and more profitable, because the entire organization is geared to one over-riding operating philosophy - efficiency.

The large bank's internet efforts will be stymied by traditional thought patterns, bad attitudes and excess overhead, although that is mitigated by the public's trust in larger banks for their added perceived safety.

Another issue for me: Internet banking lacks branches, which seems to me a major inconvenience to customers in two ways:

1. Getting cash. You have to pay to do it which nobody likes.
2. Often I need to cross checks simultaneously, a deposit and a simultaneous withdrawal - for a real estate transaction, for example. Or get a cashier's check immediately, et cetera.

I look forward to NTBK working out servicing relationships with BofA and Citibank so that these critical banking services can be offered to its customers.

As it is, I continue to need accounts at a local bank.

Best to all. I would love to hear from NTBK shorts, in order to test my thinking. Anyone?

Peter

P.S. Les, I love yourinvestment style per your profile. Are any darts sticking today?
