[telia]

hi tom and igor,

nice little press release... eh?.. looks like orctf has snagged the first commercial european adsl deployment.. long way to go, but makes for a pretty good batting average right now... :)

must admit that i thought nokia was going to prevail with telia.. so this seems like an unexpected gift...

interesting in that it seems they won this one on their own (no announced partner)... can't hurt the margins...

and they are starting deployment this qtr... that's pretty quick out of the blocks... seems that having dmt silicon right now is counting for something... also like the sound of "multi-year agreement"... :)

altho terms were not disclosed, seems like these numbers will add up as sweden is the "fourth largest European analog modem market"... think this probably falls under the category of significant..

sounds like telia has been trialing orctf (among others) since early '97... " and has now successfully transitioned it into a commercial service deployment. .." had figured telia had looked at orctf, but sheesh... trialing over a year with no direct reference ... orctf can certainly be discrete.. no doubt at telia's request...

also interesting that orctf modems will be sold in telia stores and that telia has found that people are able to handle the "installation" themselves...

must admit that i keep wondering if we won't here about an oem deal for modems one of these days... as orctf has said they are not interested in the consumer side... now that they've got another significant deployment, would think such a deal would be that much more attractive for someone..

best wishes
s
