By "1/00 puts" I believe JTC is referring to January 2000 put options. The US banks with asian exposre he has mentioned in the past are Chase Manhattan and others.

Here's an article on the derrivative exposure of US banks great reading. One day soon someone is going to wake up and realize there are real problems. You can get BT 85's and CMB 80's for less then $ 2.
